Compound Muscle Action Potential (CMAP), Single Motor Unit Potential (SMUP), and Motor Unit Number Estimation (MUNE) are used to diagnose a variety of conditions, including neuropathies, neuromuscular disorders, and nerve injuries. In our lab we are using these measurements in our preclinical and clinical studies to determine the number of functional motor units that are innervating muscle and total muscle excitability in the context of neuromuscular diseases and chronological aging.
